For You Were.

Like the waves of the ocean,
you echo inside me,
calling out for me.

Like the waves of the ocean,
I echo back to you inside,
assuring my existence.

Like the vastness of the ocean,
you stare at me,
looking for answers.

Like the vastness of the ocean,
I lay down all I have,
unaware of my paths.

Like the wildness of waves,
you show my lostness,
unable to flow or hold.

Like the wildness of waves,
I cry out in helplessness,
unaware of how to be.

Like the existence of horizon,
I was in illusions,
feeling we are one.

Like the existence of horizon,
you seem to be far away,
out of my reach.

And so I had wandered off,
in search of you,
for the waves in me.

And I met you, in me, in us,
and in all who I was and will be,
for I was lost in darkness.

I found peace in all,
I found myself in all,
I found you in all.

You were me always,
as I was you always,
so I am for you were!
